This year has been more challenging than last year, but I would say I’m holding up pretty good. This year I have to volunteer in Medical Terminology. I decided to volunteer at Aggieland Humane Society, and I would have to say this is the most rewarding experience for me. I really love working with the cats and the dogs and have over come my fear of large dogs and Pit’s. I have decided that I would like to be a veterinarian and attend College at Texas A&M. My struggles this year are in Chemistry and specifically on The Periodic Table. I have enjoyed writing the blogs but I enjoyed reading the book Into the Wild the most. I think the computer time has helped me keep up with my work and get things turned in on time. The bell work has helped me as a review and it helped me learn new words as well.

I joined Student Council this year and have very much enjoyed it. It is more work than I had expected, but I love spending time with my friends and organizing events. This past weekend I attended my first Aggie game, as a volunteer scanning tickets at the gate. I got to see Reveille and see half time band performance. It was a lot of fun. The worst part of the entire experience was some of the students. We had students who got very angry with us because they had forgotten their student identification, even thought the ticket said must present I.D.

I plan on working hard this year and studying for 30 minutes each day. I plan on asking for help when I don’t understand CHEMISTRY. I plan on doing my assignments ahead of time so that I don’t get behind. I hope that I will have a succesful year and be able to keep my grades up.

When I was a child my favorite book was The Ugly Duckling. One of my fondest memories was sitting on my grandmother’s lap while she read this to me. The story was about a unique duckling that was the last to hatch and was the ugliest of them all.  The little duckling was always ashamed that he was different and his siblings never wanted to play with him so he ran away.  I always loved the ending where he goes on this journey but never loses hope even though he was very sad.  Finally, one day he saw his reflection in the water and realized that he had grown into a beautiful swan. The illustration I remember the most is when he was able to fly away with the other swans.  

This is my favorite book because it shows you can be different and still be beautiful. It is a tale that teaches a lesson and shows how being different can have its perks.  I still have this book in my room at home.  I read it often to my four nieces and explain the moral of the story. I recommend this book to all parents who would like to teach their children that there should always be boundaries, and that being different isn’t always bad.

Change is hardest at the beginning, messiest in the middle and best at the end- Robin S. Sharma. This quote means that change has stages and the decision I made caused a major shift in my life. I moved back from Mexico at the age of 14 to the United States. It was a difficult time in my life because I decided to attend public school. I had always attended private school’s and had lived the last five years of my life in another country.

I had to start all over making new friends and getting to know people with similar interests. In Mexico all of our work was done on a computer so classes here were very different for me. I have not studied American History in five years or seen anything pertaining too the history of the United States. Some beneficial changes that occurred in the last year of moving back to Texas are; joined choir, made friends, joined Student Council. I still struggle in some areas but I work hard to do my best in my endeavors. All in all, my decision had positive and negative effects on my life. I continue to be optimistic toward my bright future.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
