This year has so far been the most eventful, and strange to say the least. There were some tragic and enjoyable moments this year. For example one of the bad moments is me writing this blog that I forgot and its days late. Apart from that I would say there were some good moments like talking with each other and getting to know each person as individuals. I also enjoyed giving opinions on certain statments that were genuine. For example the question was can you forgive someone who murdered a loved one? The answer is yes, but it will take years to forgive them. Next, we have moments in English were you got to be creative with no limits on some projects. For example the folder that was for all our poems we wrote. In conclusion, I think this year was one for the books even thought it was caught short.
My junior year will be English free as I complete it in the summer. I am hoping to get back into STUCO events and organization of school events. I feel like I have missed important facts about medical terminology, and the medical history. I am exited about getting my lisence this year and my first job as a babysitter, and cash register worker. I have mixed opinions on teaching the subjects again or moving on and reinforcing old topics. Personally if I was a teacher I would move on an concentrate on the present. To improve sophomore year I have to honestly say I loved every single bit of it, and personally wouldnt change. I just wanted to say that I am grateful you were my teacher, and one of the best I ever had. You made an impact in my life I just hope you know that. Thanks all the love as always. A J
Adnan Syed is not guilty of Hae Min Lee murder, there is no solid evidence that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Adnan committed the crime. The testimoney that Jay presented in court did not match the timeline of events that occurred. Furthermore Jay admitted to lying to police under oath. In addition he lied, and changed details of the event every time he was interviewed. Adnan was convicted of first degree murder based on the testimony of Jay Wilds and call records from Adnan’s phone, both are proven to be unreliable. The only solid fact that the state has is that Jay knew where Hae’s car was located. There was also no DNA tested on any of the physical evidence recored at the scene. Adan still claims that he is innocent of the crime.
My theory is that Jay committed this murder. Due to the fact that he knew where Hae’s car was abandoned after her murder, he lied to police and changed his story multiple times. The cell phone records do not coberate his story and Jenn also tells a different story. In addition to the story not adding up there was a call that lasted three minutes made to Jenn’s house from Adnan’s cell phone that Jay admits that he made at 3:21, yet he states to police that he was at Jenn’s house till 3:45 this doesn’t make sense. Jenn also says that she picked jay up at the mall but Jay says she picked him up at his house. Jay says he threw his clothes away in his dumpster at home yet Jenn says that she was with him and they dumped his clothes in a dumpster. There is the possibility that Jay killed Hae and made it look like Adnan did it, he was jealous of Adnan and Jenn being such close friends. The unamous called that someone made to police telling them to look at Adnan is very suspious. Regardless, there is more evidence pointing to Jay as the killer than Adnan.
I think that Serial is interesting and enjoyable because I like murder mysteries. I think Adnan is innocent because there are two better suspects which are the maintenance man or Jay. For the simple fact that Jay changed major events in his story and, the maintenance guy named Mr. R walked 120 feet to go pee in the same park where Hae’s body was found. Is this a coincidence or did he go to relive the crime he committed? The detective at the crime scene walked right pass the body with multiple people around it and didn’t see her. So it is suspicious to me that Mr. R just found her. Yet all the evidence they have on Adnan is Jay’s questionable story that changes and, cell records that put him near the scene. I think that it is possible that Jay killed Hae and then blamed Adnan for if. It may have been Adnan that caused Jay to be in the area that she was killed because he spent the day with Adnan. In the audio it sounded like Jay is jealous of Adnan. This has been a great audio to listen to in class instead of doing normal work.
I am in enjoying this unit because all I have to do when I get to class is listen to and interesting crime that happened and, hear different sides of the crime that took place in 1999. Then later analyze what I heard and plan out what may have happened that day. I also liked the story of Antigone were we had to read an old type of writing, wrote years back. I have found this unit quite easy compared to others. I think this unit is more interactive than the past, which I quite like. I enjoy hearing different opinions in class. I have gone back and read the first transcript, and I think I understand it better after you listen it and then read it. What can I say, I’m honestly enjoying this unit way too much especially because it about an act of crime. I would even go as far to say its the best unit yet.
Our justice system has three branches law enforcement, the court, and corrections. Law enforcement take calls, make arrests, investigate and sometimes even testify. Courts are where the cases are presented in front of the jury or judge and a desicion is made as to whether they are innocent or guilty. The Corrections Department houses all inmates and tries to rehabilitate them. During a trail the prosecutor must prove that the defendant is guilty beyond reasonable doubt. It is not the job of the defendant to prove that he is innocent. The prosecutor must present evidence that helps to prove his case. This means that the evidence should convince the jury or the judge. If the prosecutor can’t prove that the person is guilty they have to let them go. If he is found guilty then he will be sentenced.
It is said that all men are innocent until proven guilty, however in the last century may innocent people have gone to jail for crimes that they did not commit. Our judicial system has gotten better since DNA testing has become more accurate, over the years proving the incense and guilt of many people. I feel that people who do not have money to pay for an attorney are at a disadvantage in court and have less chances of winning. If you look at some of the famous cases of rich people and rich companies and compare those to poor people there definitely will be a differnce in the outcome of each case. People who cannot afford bail must remain in jail until they go to court. People who are wealthy can afford to post bail and can go home with their family. The conviction rate among the poor is higher than the conviction rate among the rich. This doesn’t seem equal or fair to me. I feel that we still need to improve our justice system so that there is equality across the board for everyone regardless of race, religion, and income.
I believe the quote that Dr. Martin Luther King once said is very true to a certain extent. I personally don’t have a belief or a principle that I am willing to die for. On the other hand, I love my family enough to die for them. My mother would be one of the first people I would be willing to die for because she is the one that went though the pain to have me. In the process of having me she had three miscarriages. My Dad would also be another person that I would be willing to die for, because he has always understood me and been there for me when I needed him. My brother and I are only 11 months apart and we are very close. I have always protected him and would definitely be willing to die for him. Daniel is my brother, my best friend, and I know he would be willing to do the same for me.
I definitely do fear death, its my worst fear. I think I fear death because life is so short. For example two years ago I was in middle school and now I am half way through high school. Another reason I fear death is because, when I die I want to die not regretting anything I did or didn’t do. My other love in life is to volunteer at Aggieland Humane Society. I enjoy playing with the animals and watching them come out of there shell. I am against animal abuse and the mistreatment of animals. I feel that in the future as I continue to work with animals that passion for them could become something that I am willing to die for. In conclusion, I feel that Dr. King had a valid point, yet I feel that I have not lived long enough to find a principle or belief that I am willing to die for.
Reflecting on the beginning of my sophomore year to now I am surprised my brain is still alive. I have done well in Medical Terminology and Principals of Health and have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at the animal shelter. I have not done well at all in math. I just have a hard time catching on in math class. I plan on studying more for my spring semester and not waiting last minute to do my homework. I need to organize and plan better. I need to work more on Chemistry and Geometry, these are the two classes I struggle the most in.
Looking back over the reading assignments that we did in class I believe my all time favorite was the poems. I enjoyed writing the poems more than I thought I would. I especially enjoyed the illustration poem with the painting that my brother and I did. I did try very hard on this assignment including the painting and practicing at home in front of my parents. I really enjoy my English class and would not do anything differently if I was teaching the class. Going forward I plan to be more productive.
One of my most memorable childhood toys was a pink BB rifle that was given to me on my seventh birthday. I enjoyed shooting my BB gun with my brother who was six. At the same time our dad bought us a bow and arrow to shoot at the target. That later tuned into a competition between Daniel and I. Each day after school and during our free time we would compete to see who could make more arrow, and pellets into the red area of the target.
There was one major incident that had happened with the memorable pink BB gun. On Sunday morning when we had moved to Mexico for one year and we were packing to move to a new home. I found my most loved childhood toy in a box. I took it out and showed it to Daniel we wondered if it had any pellets left. I had the gran idea to aim it at a good target, and the first thing that I saw was my dad’s rear end. Then I pulled the trigger, and all you heard was owwwwwww. After that I realized it had pellets, and then I ran in the house. My dad realized that he got shot and told my mom “Your daughter shoot me in the ass.” My mother died of laughter, and so did Daniel. Later in the day my childhood gun was taken from me, and never seen again.
I can’t imagine having to vote but, when I do I will listen to the candidates. I will research on them and find the one that best fits my values. Some expectations that a future candidate must have respect for all citizens, and willing to listen to fellow citizens. He must be honest and have a set of values that sets him part from the other candidates.
Furthermore, I would look for personal traits like self-control and social intelligence. The candidate will need both traits too for fill the list of traits that I would need to see to vote for him or her. Other characteristics a candidate may need are leadership and honesty with its people. I would also look for someone who is against abortion, an animal rights activist, and religious.
One of the most memorable movies of my childhood is Madea’s Family Reunion. I enjoyed this movie because as a family we watched it together. We all laughed together and enjoyed the movie. Madea’s movies inspire me because they are about real life. She handles problems in a dramatic but, comical way.
I could set an watch Madea’s movies for hours at a time. Sometimes my family and I rewatch her movies if we can’t find a comedy we like. My favorite scene in the movie is when Madea tells the girl to get on the bus to go to school, but she does not want to because the kids talk about her and call her names. Madea goes to the bus and tells the kids that they better leave her friend alone. She slaps one of the kids a few times and tells them she will be there at 3:00 and that no one will bother her.
I had a friend in Mexico named Vanessa, that went to school with me and lived down the road from me. We spent the afternoon’s together and became best friends. When summer was over and the following school year started she completely changed. There were several new girls that came to our school and she became friends with them. She did not want me in the group at all. She bagan to talk about me with them and just made me feel horrible about myself. I cried and wondered how our friendship had become none existent.
About a month later Isabella arrived at our school and we became very close. She started staying over with me at my home. We would go to the movies and hang out together. Vanessa became jealous and started coming around and trying to invite herself and become part of our group. We didn’t allow her to interfere in our relationship though. We became the best of friends and had so much fun. I think the only thing I would change about our relationship is the distance between us. Everytime we go to Mexico we visit with each other. The last time we went Vanessa messaged me and asked to hang out with me but I didn’t respond to her message.
